Lorraine Debnam

Qualifications and experience
Lorraine has been a counsellor for the past 14 years working in a range of different settings. After gaining the Relate Certificate in Counselling Lorraine started working as a relationship counsellor to the armed forces in Germany during the Gulf crisis for which she was awarded the British Empire Medal for service to service families. On returning to England Lorraine went on to training in psycho sexual counselling, Human Givens Therapy, Child and Adolescent counselling, family relationships and has worked extensively with survivors of abusive relationships both past and present.
Lorraine is an experienced trainer and facilitator and has enjoyed designing, developing and delivering courses for specific client groups. In the past 3 years Lorraine has worked within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health service (CAMHS) leading and delivering a school based CAMHS. This has meant Lorraine has worked extensively in a large comprehensive school assessing the training needs of teaching staff on emotional well-being and then creating and delivering the training and support necessary to create a more positive whole school ethos, improve moral and reduce stress In both teaching staff and students.
For the past 7 years Lorraine has worked extensively with women who have, or are still experiencing domestic abuse or with both men and women who find themselves in controlling relationships In which they desire change. Lorraine has also worked as a counsellor within a GP practice working with a wide range of emotional effects of physical illness such as stress, depression and bereavement.
More recently Lorraine has become very interested in solution focused techniques and completed the first Solution Focused Brief Therapy Diploma to be run by 'The Brief' In London. The Brief are not only the forerunners in the UK for solution focused training, consultation and therapy but are also the longest established organisation of its type in England.
Lorraine is also accredited to facilitate the Triple P Parenting Programme and is trained in the parent child game.
Lorraine lives with her partner in Lichfield and has two grown up children of 20 and 18 years who live independently.
