Parent Groups / Programmes
We can offer a range of programmes to suit the family. These range from:
Triple P Parenting Programme
Wendy and Lorraine are accredited to facilitate a new and effective Triple P parenting programme researched by the University of Queensland and Health Promotion Services of the Health Department of Western Australia. This group programme has recently been featured on television under the title 'Driving Mum and Dad Crazy'. There are two group triple P programmes run by futureminds one for children aged 5-12 years and one for adolescents 12-16 years. The course is run over 8 weeks; weeks 1-4 involve parents working as a group with the facilitator using video/DVD, overheads, small group discussion and feedback. In weeks 5-8 one of the facilitators will offer a 20-minute telephone consultation at a time to suit the parents and tailoring the programme to the particular needs of the parent/child practising strategies learned from the course.
Individual parenting programme
Many parents find that they are using strategies but nothing seems to be working. We are able to offer a client led service using a combination of clinical setting, home visits and telephone consultation. We will be able to conduct a full assessment leading to advice and support in the home ‘super nanny’ style.
Parent child game
In 2007 futureminds will be introducing the parent child game, which is an effective way of working with parents/carers of children who may have attachment difficulties. Wendy and Lorraine are both trained In this approach which Involves the parent/carer wearing an ear piece and following the Instructions of the therapist who may be observing from a different room. The parent/carer then has direct In the moment advice on how to develop a more positive relationship with their child and how to manage difficult/challenging behaviour.
