Traditional Japanese Usui Reiki Style
Many Western Reiki practioners say that Reiki has nothing to do with Religion, however the journey of Reiki the Natural Healing System’, has deep roots in Japanese style Buddhism (which is a mixture of Philosophy and faith and indeed a refinement of older faiths) and so as Reiki made its journey around the globe to the west, the practices were added to and adjusted according to the belief system of everyone who has ever spoken about it, read about it, learnt about it and practiced it. Therefore the Western Reiki we have today is about everyone’s belief system as well as the system it was rooted in. 
Traditional Japanese Usui Reiki is very intuitive, uncluttered and not only channels energy it is also useful to develop your own connectivity to the universe, which I believe is your spirituality. It’s our spirituality that connects us to our greater self, the universe.
Traditional Japanese Reiki (energy, chi) is around us all the time. I channel the ‘potential energy’ that the universe contains. I do not give away my energy or take energy from another person; I channel energy that exists in the universe via me to the recipient and their body uses it in whatever way they wish. This ancient art of palm-healing, (Teate) has always been part of human interaction and I believe Traditional Japanese Usui Reiki system of healing, ‘tops’ us back up again and recharges our batteries – how much we need will depend on how much energy we have used and failed to replace. Of course Reiki is not the only way to connect with the greater self and engage in universal energy– it’s just that it is quick, efficient, and pleasurable and doesn’t require the recipient to master deep meditation.
